Surprise! It’s National Lash Day
I received a few Sephora gift cards during Christmas and figured today would be the day to splurge a little.
The Mission: Find a new mascara
Now, a few years back, I used to purchase brands like Dior, Benefit, MUFE and others until a friend suggested trying drugstore brands. After much research, I decided to buy L’Oreal’s Telescopic mascara in Carbon Black. Overtime, I fell in love with the slim wand and absence of flaking. Who knew a product could be so good? It gets the job done and most of all, it’s inexpensive.
Side note: I use Lancome’s Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base as a primer before using regular mascara. Short lashes call for an extra boost in length, curl and thickness.
You’re probably wondering, why bother deviate from something that works?
I like to switch products every now and then. I could find an all in one mascara that doesn’t require a primer or a product that gives me what I want and more. The possibilities are endless.
Upon entering Sephora, I checked out a few brands and ended up by Benefit. Their Roller Lash mascara was my product of choice for awhile so I was thinking of revisiting it again.
The Problem: Who wants to pay $25 for a mascara?
A gift card was in my possession, but I could make this go a long way by spending it correctly. While debating back and forth, I decided to check out their other products and low and behold there was a sign in front of their BAD Gal BANG mascara that read, 50% off this product in honor of National Lash Day!
WIN! I paid $12.50. What a beautiful blessing.
I tried it on as soon as I got home. The product gave me length and curled my lashes without primer. Everything felt good to me so I wore it to work the next day.
FAIL. It started to flake. Maybe this won’t happen if I try it with primer?
HALF FAIL. It didn’t flake as much, but overall, it did. I don’t have this problem at all with the L’OREAL mascara. Also, for the first couple of days I couldn’t stop rubbing my eyes so I think it’s irritating.
Would I Buy It Again? Probably not. Next time, I’ll grab the Roller Lash.
