Face Masks Sold By Black Businesses

It’s the summer, which is great, but the coronavirus (COVID-19) has made things not so pleasant. Gone are the concerts, indoor brunch parties and anything that falls under large crowds of people being in close proximity to each other. It’s a tough time for those who are itching for normalcy, but I think it’s better to be safe than sorry. We have to protect ourselves and one way we can do this is by wearing a face mask when traveling outside of our home.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention:

….cloth face coverings are a critical tool in the fight against COVID-19 that could reduce the spread of the disease when used universally within communities.

Many people say they’re taking away our rights by forcing us to wear one (it’s mandatory in some states). I say, I’m listening to the health professionals and wearing a mask. I’d rather protect myself and those around me. Sorry….not sorry.

In March, I started wearing the regular blue medical masks that a lot of people have, but it started to give me really bad ‘maskne’ which is the new word for mask acne. No matter how many times I washed it, a new pimple would pop up, so I decided to invest in a handmade washable one that I found on Etsy (in picture above). Since then, my jawline has been breakout free!!

I bought it from a black owned business called OnyxLoveDesigns.  What I like best about her masks is that they tie in the back of your head.  The elastic ones that go behind your ears hurt so I prefer this option.

Looking for a mask? Need a new one? Or just want more than one? Well, here’s a list of different black businesses that make this style:

D'IYANU (they sell mask adjusters in different colors)
KoshieO
LollyKiks
