Over the weekend, I went to Essence Magazine’s Street Style Event. It’s a day where people come out to showcase their own personal style, to shop various vendors, take part in events and to mix and mingle while soaking in lots of style inspiration.<\/p>\n

Besides the amount of creativity in the event space, the vendor list was beyond<\/em><\/strong> amazing. I met and interacted with different businesses from across the country, selling goods that you never knew existed, which made you say, “ohhh! I never thought of that…” It was definitely dripping with black girl magic, straight across the board.<\/p>\n

Alright, so here is a brief recap of what I experienced at the event:<\/p>\n

The event was indoors at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn. Mother nature was in full force with the rain and wind, so the indoor venue was definitely a plus.<\/p>\n

The doors opened at 12pm, so my friends and I decided to get there around that time.<\/p>\n

There was hardly a line so we only spent about 20 minutes waiting and going through security.<\/p>\n

NOTE<\/strong>: When we left, the line was literally wrapped around the building. One of our friends came to the event later and she waited on line for approximately an hour. So if you’re interested in going next year, I say get there early so you don’t have to wait to get in.<\/p>\n

They had two separate check-ins. General admission and the Swag Bag Ticket. I decided to get a regular ticket for $25 and my friends got the swag bag ticket for $60. I wish I would’ve bought that one cause the actual swag bag was nice.<\/p>\n

It had a zipper and everything! You know how most of these events only give you totes. Well, Essence came through with a full on, take me to the gym, take me as an overnighter, I can go grocery shopping too, bag. So if they make something like this next year, I’m buying this ticket.<\/p>\n

Upon entering the event, a few people were lined up to take pictures in front of a really nice backdrop that mimicked beach\/summertime fun. Below is a picture of what it looked like from the outside.<\/p>\n

Then, it was time to experience the Marketplace.<\/p>\n

There were over 80 vendors, selling clothing, jewelry, makeup, bath and body products, etc. Here are a few of the tables I stopped.<\/p>\n
