Spotlight: Meow & Barks Boutique

Let me tell you about this brand I came across two years ago….

Meow & Barks Boutique caught my attention at an Essence Magazine event in 2018 (recap here) so I took a business card and made sure to take a picture (see below). At the time, I just started my blog and knew it was something I’d want to review in the future.

This black owned clothing and accessories business created by Traci Evans is based in the San Marco neighborhood of Jacksonville, FL.

Bright, colorful and flowy pieces cascade throughout her website. Just take a look at her Instagram. It screams vacation/birthday/celebration vibes.

Also, if you don’t live in Florida, have no fear because she has an online store.

One day while browsing through her Instagram page, I stumbled across a set of colorful rhinestone hoop earrings (product image below). Can we say unique! There’s nothing like jewelry that can pull an outfit alllllll the way together.

So I saw them, but unfortunately they were sold out! Amen to Instagram notifications because I purchased as soon as she restocked. The colors can go with anything and they’re a huge step up from regular hoops.

Also, I decided to purchase these “Not So Booty” shorts.

They remind me of a mullet haircut – work in the front and party in the back. It’s good for those who want to show a little skin because they cut high in the front, but have a Bermuda shorts length in the back.

They’re available in black, light blue and white.

And let me tell you how good God is….

When I placed my order, I really wanted the black shorts, but they were sold out so I bought the light blue ones. Then, a week went by and I didn’t receive tracking info, so I reached out for the status. Traci emailed me and apologized for the delay and stated that the denim ones were out of stock, but she had the black ones in my size (small) and if I wanted those instead. I immediately said yes. #WontHeDoIt

Another thing I like about this company is how much they interact with their customers. Seeing brands respond to Instagram posts is important because it shows they care and most of all, that they’re listening. There’s a host of businesses that push products, but lack customer service. #NotGettingMyCoins

Here’s a few pieces I have my eyes on..

All White Now! Tulle Top
Never Ever Full Straw Bag
