Business Spotlight: Sweet Dames Artisan Confections

February is the month of lovey-doveyness. No matter how much you hate it or love it, it’s all around!

For Business Spotlight, I set out to find a black owned dessert company. One that’s up and coming with scrumptious treats. I came across Sweet Dames Artisan Confections on Instagram and decided to order two items: Coconut Chocolate Bark and Salted Caramel Coconut Macaroon Bites

I have to say, I’m so glad I found this place!

The bite-sized macaroons are a problem! I can’t stop eating them (insert crying emoji). Since they’re small, I keep telling myself, “Another one won’t hurt.” It’s the overall flavor of the handcrafted macaroons with the drizzle of caramel on top that has me hooked.

As for the Coconut Chocolate Bark, I looked at the package and said, “How am I going to eat all of this?” Then I realized, a bite a day, will make my belly say ayeee!  So, this is what I’ll do.

It’s four large pieces, each decorated with Valentines Day themed sprinkles and blessed with chewy macaroon bites spread throughout. If you’re feeling generous, it’s a great treat to share with family and friends.

Founder Genelle Drayton is the mastermind behind all this greatness. Love for cooking and hospitality stems from her Bahamian grandparents, Henry & Daisy Dames, who are the inspiration behind the company’s name.

She’s recognized on BET’s Future 40 list and recently received the Snack Award from the Good Food Foundation

Check out her website for different macaroon flavors (Pineapple and Chocolate Dipped) and other treats such as mallow sandwiches!
