Bright Lights

I’m currently watching the Olympics and thinking back to the time when I fell in love with gymnastics. It was 1996 and a black gymnast by the name of Dominique Dawes caught my attention. She was part of the American Olympic team known as the Magnificent Seven. They won the gold medal that year and soon thereafter, I begged my mom to enroll me in classes. I went for a few years and now as an adult, all I can say is representation matters. When you see someone like you engaged in something that peaks your interest, you become inspired to give it a try. So a big shout out to Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles and the many other black gymnasts who have and continue to show the next generation that they can do it, too.

Now on to the fashion….

This is my birthday dress. No, it’s not my birthday lol, but I wish it was! I bought this last year right before the pandemic and never got the chance to wear it so, here we are!

It’s the array of colors mixed with a polka-dot/floral pattern that caught my attention. I decided to pair it with a navy blue vest, black heels and pearl hoop earrings.
