Thigh High
Yup, it’s officially cold here in New York City. I swear, it feels like we went from summer straight to winter.
:insert Kanye shrug:
But it’s alright because this means it’s over-the-knee boots season.
Years ago, I fell in love with this style because it keeps my legs warm. Especially at night. For me, it’s perfect for shorts or a mini-skirt. All I have to do is add a long-sleeved top into the mix and I’m out the door….with my jacket of course! Remember those college nights when you’d go to a party without one? Because the coat messed up your whole outfit? Shivering like crazy while waiting to enter the club? Not tuh-day.
I bought my first pair from an off-price department store called Loehmanns (they went out of business). Since then, I’ve had a few different styles. Embellished, western inspired, blue suede and the list goes on.
I’ve had this Steve Madden suede pair for 5+ years. The key to making your boots last a long time is based on how you take care of them. If it’s leather, make sure to clean, condition and store them in the original box. For suede, I make sure not to wear my boots if it snows (the “snow” salt can ruin it) or I’ll just wear travel shoes (sneakers usually) and change when I get to my destination.
